The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Essential Function

• Processes, performs and results medical diagnostic testing on body fluids by automated and manual methods in a timely manner under the supervision of the senior technologists,
• Produces medical diagnostic test results in an efficient and cost-effective manner for stat and routine specimens,
• Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments and lab equipment if possible,
• Maintains all necessary QC, QA and repair records required by accreditation agencies,
• Verifies orders from scripts and orders procedures in HIS and LIS,
• Assists in clerical duties as needed,
• Assists in the training of new employees and students,
• Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies,
• Works on special projects as requested by Director,
• Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of each patient's status and provide acre appropriate to the age of the patient served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric,

Qualifications

Associate degree in Medical Technology and /or related science, chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution or military service equivalent required,

Requirements

• Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques which would normally be obtained through a formal two-year academic program,
• Minimum 6 month of clinical laboratory experience or equivalent experience
• ASCP Certification for MLT or eligible within 8 months of employment
• Weekend and Holiday rotation required
