Position: Pipe/Structural Welder

Contract: Long-term contract

Location: San Antonio, TX

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Job Duties

Individuals will be assigned tasks based on their capabilities and will have the opportunity to gain exposure to current industrial practices and procedures in a modern workplace. Duties will include layouts, fit-ups, and weld joint completions using a variety of weld procedures in multiple environments at our client's location. Tasks will vary and may involve structural weldments, pressure vessels, construction, and field fitment of piping systems and structural components.

Candidates must be able to work with a wide range of power tools, hand tools, and material-handling devices. Strong attention to detail is required, particularly with following shop drawings and ensuring accurate fit and weld dimensions as specified per project.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• High-level understanding of how to read and interpret shop and ISO drawings and related terminology.
• Ability to understand complex instructions and communicate those instructions to junior-level technicians.
• Ability to interact with engineering staff and train others as needed.
• Knowledge of piping and structural systems and the tools required for this work.
• Near mastery of multiple welding processes and demonstrated proficiency welding in multiple positions and situations.
• Must have 2 to 5 years of welding experience in pipe and/or structural work.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding position with exposure to metal heated to melting point, noise, and outdoor elements. While lifting assistance is available, lifting, carrying, and moving large solid objects is required. Grinding dust, fumes, and flames will be present.

Candidates must be able to pass an MVR. Steel-toed shoes are required. Uniforms will be provided.
