Position Summary

The Staff Accountant supports core accounting functions with a strong emphasis on fixed assets, capitalization, inventory costing, and financial reporting. This role plays a key part in month-end close activities, reconciliations, variance analysis, and compliance-related filings. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounting experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to become an expert in inventory costing systems within a retail, restaurant, or hospitality setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis

• Manage fixed assets and capitalization processes in accordance with GAAP

• Support compliance requirements, regulatory filings, and financial reporting standards

• Develop financial models and analyses to support operational and business decision-making

• Become a subject matter expert in inventory costing systems, supporting inventory flow from requisition through final sale

• Identify and resolve item cost irregularities by analyzing root causes and driving process improvements

• Assist in the compilation, validation, and distribution of financial reports, including monthly variance allowances

• Support annual budget preparation and reporting; identify and communicate inconsistencies between actual and budgeted spending

• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial data and continuous process improvement

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting regulations and standards

• Proficiency with accounting software, specifically Restaurant365

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality environments

• Experience working with inventory costing systems and high-volume transactional data
