Job Description
We are looking for a Freelance Raw Materials Specialist for a top fashion company in New York, New York. This is a hybrid position based out of the New York office, 3 days onsite and 2 days working remotely per week. 6+month contract.
Responsibilities:- Support RM Director to create and maintain seasonal raw material portfolios.
- Monitor developments, troubleshoot issues and facilitate solutions when possible. Closely communicate with manager and Hub teams / mills to resolve any issues / delays and minimize quality problems.
- Gather and review fabric submits, FDS sheets, and test reports.
- Maintain physical fabric records, presentation boards, and digital database / PLM / Centric.
- Assess and call-out high risk fabric developments as part of Stage 1 risk assessment.
- Daily communication with cross-functional teams, overseas mills, .
- Work closely with Sourcing team in order to deliver timely proto & salesman samples.
- Check all fabric details for correct quality, finish, and color prior to ordering bulk.
- Other related duties / special projects as required.
Required Qualifications:- Experience with raw materials sourcing or development.
- Must have fabric or textile background experience.
- Technical experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Textiles, Design, or related field strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required.
- Basic technical understanding of textiles required.
- Web PLM preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Deadline-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy.
